A British horror-comedy earned $3.2 million during its opening weekend in the U.K. and Ireland, beating out a major DC release. Lionsgate’s “Ghosts: The Possession of Button House” claimed the top spot in the regional box office chart. The film collected £2.4 million across the three-day frame.

Warner Bros. placed second with its DC horror thriller “Clayface.” The film opened with $2.6 million in revenue. This result puts the new superhero entry behind the localized ghost story in its debut session.

Amazon MGM Studios held the third position with “Ali G: Who Iz I?” The comedy feature generated $1.7 million in its opening session. Black Bear’s animated fantasy “Wildwood” took fourth place. The film, directed by Travis Knight, earned $1.36 million.

Paramount’s “Street Fighter” moved to fifth place in its second weekend. The film added $1.35 million to its total. This brings its cumulative gross to $5.6 million. Universal’s “Forgotten Island” landed in sixth position. It collected $1.2 million in its second frame, reaching a total of $3.7 million.

Sony’s “Verity” ranked seventh in its fourth session. The psychological thriller added $857,067 to its gross. Its running total now stands at $14.4 million. Universal’s “Other Mommy” finished eighth in its third weekend. It earned $576,822, bringing its total to $6.2 million.

Mubi’s “Fatherland” debuted at ninth place. The drama played at 86 locations and earned $264,083. This gave it a per-screen average of $3,144. Including previews, the total opening reached $415,017. That figure surpasses “Cold War” to mark director Paweł Pawlikowski’s largest launch in the territory.

Studiocanal’s “Shaun the Sheep: The Beast of Mossy Bottom” rounded out the top ten. The animated film earned $408,089 in its sixth week. Its cumulative total is now $6.1 million. Mubi’s documentary “Making Marie Antoinette” opened on six screens. It took $1,737 over the weekend.

That limited release precedes a staggered rollout for the film. The expansion will happen before Park Circus re-releases Sofia Coppola’s 2006 feature on Nov. 13. Trafalgar Releasing presents the Royal Ballet’s “Manon” on Tuesday. On Wednesday, the music documentary “Ozzy & Black Sabbath: Back to the Beginning” plays in more than 100 locations.
